During the sessions we will cover:-
Moving forward from your previous birth
We will discuss your previous birth experiences, hopes/fears for the next birth, revisit the basics (hormones, stages of labour, pain relief – natural and medical) , Caesarean birth, birth partner’s role, how to ensure that you get the birth you want, and where to have your baby.
Introducing a new baby to the family
Introduction of a new baby to the family, supporting the siblings to ensure a good relationship develops, taking care of you in those early days (with another child to look after), relationships and dynamics in the family and how they will change as your family grows and also we will cover feeding – looking at how to ensure that you feed the way that you want, no matter what your previous experience has been. (Most families find this section extremely useful if they had a difficult feeding journey last time around)
Breathing and relaxation session
A daytime session (for women only) specifically tailored to support you no matter what type of birth you choose, this calm and relaxing session can reduce fear and give you skills that will be helpful for use in both the antenatal and postnatal period.
Postnatal support/reunion session
We invite you to attend one of our weekly coffee group sessions (free of charge) during which you can ask the team for advice on many newborn issues such as sleeping, feeding, and day to day concerns/worries. Subject to availability, we can offer the opportunity to de-brief your birth with one of the teachers if required. As a group, you may wish to set a date that you all attend together allowing you the opportunity to introduce your babies and have a formal reunion.
